Note: Scales are not in concert pitch. Play scales tongued, ascending and descending. Scales may be played 1 or 2 octaves, memorized or using music. More credit will be given for scales performed 2 octaves and/or memorized.
Use the following rhythmic pattern with a maximum metronome marking of quarter note = 120.

Percussion (Snare, Marimba & Timpani)
The Percussion Audition is a comprehensive audition. Students are strongly encouraged to play all of the material in each of the listed areas, including scales and rudiments. .
Snare
Rudiments: Concert buzz roll from soft to loud over approximately 30 seconds, plus the following rudiments: single stroke roll, double stroke roll, 5 stroke roll, 7 stroke roll, flam, drag and paradiddle. All rudiments to be played by memory open-closed-open (slow, accelerate, decelerate).
Marimba
Scales: Major – G, C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab (2 octaves) Chromatic: F to F (2 octaves)
